Out of hospital, Medicare pays 100% of the schedule fee for non-referred GP attendances and 85% for other services. Items only payable in hospital are left out. The multiple operation rule does not apply to operations by different surgeons, to a return to theatre for complications, or to amputations; the anaesthetist bills on the relative value guide.
