Fees from 1 July 2026. BBIs pay 85% of their schedule fee and can only be claimed when the whole service is bulk billed, once per MBS item, and not with pathology, diagnostic imaging or admitted patients. The area is where your practice is, not the patient; the after-hours BBIs 10992 and 75872 for MM1 practices visiting MM2–7 areas are not shown.
BBPIP pays 12.5% of the item’s benefit (not the BBI), split equally between you and the practice. A participating practice must bulk bill every eligible service for every Medicare-eligible patient, so billing one privately can cost the whole quarter’s payment. How you share benefits with your practice depends on your agreement.
